Missions and Outreach

Winter Farmers’ Market

We plan to host a Winter Farmers Market next winter. Faith in Place partners with congregations in the Chicagoland area to bring locally and sustainably produced food to their communities during the winter months.

Night Ministry

Church members make sack lunches on the 4th Sunday of each month for The Night Ministry.
Every Christmas we stuff 100 stockings with donations from many people in order to delight the clients of the Night Ministry.

Workship

The Congregational Church of Jefferson Park has four special worship services per year called “workships”. There is a 15-minute worship service in the sanctuary, after which we leave the building and do service in the neighborhood or city.

Our first Workship was on Sunday, July 13, 2014. We cleaned up litter in Jefferson Park and unclogged flooded sewers in the street adjoining Jefferson Park.

At our second Workship on Sunday, August 31, we picked vegetables for local food pantries at Olive’s Garden, a community garden for the hungry in Jefferson Park, at Ainslie and Laramie.

On Sunday, May 17, 2015, 25 of us did spring planting at Olive’s Garden.

Sunday, June 28th and Sunday, August 30, we will again go to Olive’s Garden.

Other Support

We regularly deliver food and personal items to the New Hope Food Pantry. We support charitable organizations such as Lydia Home, The CARA Program, New Eyes for the Needy, and Our Church’s Wider Mission.
